For those of you who know me, (which is most of you), you know that the state of cleanliness that my sewing room is in, is a direct correlation to where my mood and ambition level are at. I don't think I can put it into words the state of this, so here you go. Hevan help me, I'm airing out my dirty laundry!
Needless to say, things haven't been going how I have planned. I took part in a two designer fashion show in September 2010, and since then I physically cannot bring myself to sit down and sew. ANYTHING! For that show I made 18 pieces in 4 months, including a sharkskin suit, high trousers, 2 men's dress shirts, wool jumper with floral blouse, 2 day dresses, cigarette pants with brocade wrap top, a cocktail dress, felt dress with hand beaded flowers, 2 party dresses and a full wedding dress with removable train. (If I could figure out how to link you to them I would. Maybe another post). Burnt out is an understatement! I have been getting a steady stream of clients wanting work done and I still owe some alterations (as payment for some of the models) but I can't bring myself to do them.
Next week, on my "weekend" my goal is to (torch the place, just kidding) clean and organize this space. Although, we are still 6-8 weeks from spring here in Minnesota, I have caught the spring cleaning bug early. Wish me luck that I can stick to the plan.
On a lighter note.
I bought these really cute vintage earmuffs from this amazing vintage store called The Corner Store. My intention was to use them on one of my models for the show, however, it turned out to be 90 degrees the day of the show and I didn't feel like I could torture that poor girl. I had just tucked them away with all the other accessories after the show. I was assessing how extensive this mess really was and....Walla!! There they were, just as cute as the day I bought them. I had totally forgotten about them. Truly a day brightener! It also helped the sun was out.
oh my gosh, i love your green coat! im jealous of your sewing room, even if its not being used at the moment ;)
