Closet overhaul

Welcome to stage two of organizing and de-cluttering 2012!

Second stage, Closets.

Before:

As you can see, I have exceeded the amount of space those boxes can accomodate. Leaving my closet always looking like a mess. So, I recently upgraded my scarf and stocking boxes. I have found so many new scarfs in the last few months that my box has overflowith. I decided while I was doing that to proporly fold them and colorize. Making finding the correct color a lot easier.

I also moved my hat collection a little higher in my closet to prevent me from damaging them now that the boxes are bigger. I also invested in a few more hooks so now I can hang more. I rediscovered several hats I had forgot about. I love that about reorganizing!

Tying up loose ends

Hello Again!

2012 has some big changes on the horizon, so with that, for me, comes organization and de-cluttering home, closet and my mind.

I started and finished some projects that I have been putting off for quite a while. Earlier this winter I painted my bathroom, which had been in dire need of paint since we had a little fire over a year ago. It was a lavender color before, but now, a pinky peach! It's called "Friendship", and I love it. It came out just the way I wanted it too. I think it matches my original buttercup with gold fleck original 50's tile nicely. I found this great 60's peach wicker shelf.

These adorable chalkware poodles dated 1957 are also a new addition to the bathroom.

I also found earlier this summer these two spaghetti poodle figurines at a thrift store, one is a planter. That sad little plant is hanging on for dear life. The other was just to cute and tiny to pass up.

I never had any intention of having it a poodle themed bathroom, but I guess it just worked out that way.
There are still some improvements that I would like to make, but I like to do things in steps when I have extra money. That way I buy things I really like, rather then things that will work in a pinch.

Missoni

I don't know about you but I am a designer junkie. When I used to work as a full time make-up artist I was especially immersed in fashion, fashion shows and designers. Now, several years later I still enjoy a day off at a cafe with Italian & Australian Vogue, W magazine and usually some other international mag that grabs my eye. I like to order up a latte and fantasize about owning fantastic designer wears, or gather inspiration for clothing I'd like to design. Because I am not currently designing any new lines, I am free to peruse as many magazines as I like. When I'm designing up a storm I tend to shy away from magazines as to not rip off someone else's work. But for now.....Bring on the magazines and the youtube videos of this season's big runway shows!!

I have a friend who works for Target corporate. Target's corporate offices are based her in Minneapolis. She is one of many who work on the Target international limited lines. This fall they are featuring MISSONI! I love the colors and the awesome "rick-rack" like patterns. Here is a video of the upcoming collection!

It launches September 13th! I don't know about you but I love the house wears and the coats. I am such a coat junkie (because it is always arctic here!) I am going to be sporting some new cute coats this fall.

Dressed to kill!

The summer has been slipping away and I have been trying to hold on to the last bit of it with all that I am! I have taken the summer off from blogging, though who am I kidding I am not that frequent of a blogger in the winter either. baby steps, baby steps.

Anywhooo, I recently was asked to be part of a very fun project for a newer friend of mine. Sarah Holm is a fellow designer, and she asked me to be one of the leads in one of the 5 short films she is collaborating on.  She is making 5 outfits, one for each of the lead rolls of each film. During Minnesota Fashion week (same time as New York Fashion week) she will have these films playing in the back round while the model walk the catwalk in the same outfit. Pretty incredible idea if you ask me! To make the whole project even more amazing Sarah teamed up with Tyler Jensen an up and coming short film director. He is working on a project called 30 films in 30 days. He writes, films and edits these short films in 24 hours, for a whole month! Sarah and Tyler will be collaborating on all 5 films.
This is the film that I was in:

Dressed To Kill: Terminal Coolness, Or I Used To Eat Your Brains Before Everyone Else Did! from Tyler Jensen on Vimeo.

Tyler also just got word yesterday, that this film will be shown at Zombiefest in the UK! I believe this is happening next week. How cool!

Well, that's all for now. Once the summer slows down a bit I will start blogging again.

Until then,

Happy Memorial day!

Happy Memorial day everyone! I am just about to go pay my respects to my grandparents at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. I was looking through these photos of my brother and I. He is away in the middle East. I miss him terribly, and wish that I could see him or even talk with him. Sadly, that is not a reality. Somehow seeing these photos make it easier for him to be away.

VLV Recap Wednesday quick add!

In my last Wednesday recap post I told you about the snow and meant to post this photo also! I was pulling my hair out of rollers when Noah waked into the bathroom with this:

and says "Pretty Girlfriend! I made you a farewell snowman, I hope you like it!"

This is just another example of how nice it was going from farewell snowmen to 85!

Thursday post up tomorrow,

VLV Recap Wednesday

I know, I know, a little late. My only excuse is that I went on a second "vacation" two days after getting back from Viva. I have finally gotten photos uploaded and am ready to spill the beans on my vacation(s)!

Wednesday morning I was up very early to finish last minute packing and wash and wet set my hair before we left. I open our bedroom curtains to check the weather, and 2 inches of snow had accumulated on my lawn, over night. My boyfriend says in a sleepy haze "what's the damage?" I continue looking out the window and mutter "At least the high is going to be 85 degrees this afternoon". Thats all I could say. This has been a cruel spring for Minnesota. After I got over my depression of the snow on the ground with a cup of coffee it was a whirl win of hair flowers, scarfs, last min pair of shoes, more accessories (just in case), another palette of eye shadow and as the door bell rang and my Dad was at the door to take us to the airport I stuffed in another "emergency" pair of shoes into my already stuffed suitcase. That brought the running total to 9 pairs of shoes. Excessive, I know!

The flight was a breeze. Stepping out into the fresh air outside the airport, it was warm and my mood instantly became 100% better. I had been wanting/needing this vacation for a long time! We waited in line for a cab, stuffed all out luggage in and suffered through the scariest cab ride I have ever taken. And that is saying something! I was so happy to arrive at the hotel. Our friend Ashley, a Vegas native, called us right as we were pulling up to the hotel, she was going to take us from the airport to Rancho Ronny's meet and greet, but she had just missed us. We decided to get settled in, change and she would pick us up and take us the the Wild Record pre-party instead of Frankie's tiki room. I was really looking forward to seeing Frankie's because Ashley talks about it a bunch but am really happy to take her advice and going to the Wild party instead. Wednesday night turned out to be one of my favorite nights of the whole trip.

This was one of my favorite bands from the night.

One of the best parts about this event was that all the bands played on the same kit, which meant that change over time was almost non-existent. I think we literally heard 20-25 bands that night, all fantastic. It was the best start to the weekend. We stayed and danced till 6am.

Official viva posts coming up!
